This Field Note documents concrete roof slab waterproofing work at Nusantara, Gelang Patah, Johor. The existing roof slab was cleaned and prepared before a KOTE22 waterproofing coating system in grey was applied across the required area, including detailing around the perimeter and upturn sections.
Existing Roof Slab Condition
Before the waterproofing work started, the existing concrete roof slab showed signs of ageing and surface deterioration, with areas of dirt, staining and moisture accumulation. The existing surface condition required proper cleaning and preparation before the new waterproofing coating could be applied.
Roof Slab Cleaning and Surface Preparation
The roof slab was thoroughly cleaned using high-pressure water cleaning to remove dirt, loose surface material and other contaminants. Proper surface preparation helps provide a cleaner and more suitable surface before the waterproofing coating is applied.
KOTE22 Waterproofing Coating Application
After the roof slab had been cleaned and prepared, the grey KOTE22 waterproofing coating was applied across the required concrete surface. The waterproofing treatment was continued around the roof perimeter and upturn areas to maintain protection across the slab and surrounding details.
Perimeter and Upturn Waterproofing Details
Particular attention was given to the perimeter and upturn sections around the roof slab. The KOTE22 waterproofing coating was continued onto these areas to provide continuous protection between the horizontal slab surface and the surrounding raised details.
Completed Roof Slab Waterproofing
After the waterproofing work was completed, the concrete roof slab had a continuous grey KOTE22 coating across the treated surface, including the perimeter and upturn areas. The completed application provides a continuous waterproofing layer across the required roof slab area.
What This Project Shows
This project shows the importance of proper surface cleaning, preparation and detailing when applying a waterproofing coating system to an existing concrete roof slab. The waterproofing work covered the required slab surface together with the perimeter and upturn areas to maintain continuity across the treated sections.
For this project, grey KOTE22 waterproofing coating was used as the selected waterproofing system based on the required scope of work.
